"If the big Turk and one-time NBA All-Star is not ready to return Tuesday, as it appears will be the case, Jazz coach coach Jerry Sloan indicated this morning that he's inclined to stick with veteran reserve big man Jarron Collins opening at center."
Now, if I were Collins I would be practicing 14-foot jump shots at the top of the key like crazy these next couple of days. That's there any time he wants it. But something tells me come Game 2 we're going to see a lot of them clanging off the iron again. . .

We've got this series in the bag!
Although I've never been a huge Collins supporter, I was relatively pleased with how he played on Sunday. He provided more defense than what the Jazz usually get from Boozer or Okur, and he even had a follow-up basket or two. Interior Defense is the biggest struggle for the Jazz against the Lakers, and sadly, I think that Collins may be the best defender that the Jazz have inside.
The Jazz will win tonight!
Were you also pleased when he went 1-5 with an airball from four feet away and a bunch of jumpers off the iron?
I think Collins is a slightly better defender than Okur, although that's not saying much. And it has more to do with the fact that he's trying whereas sometimes Memo just goes through the motions.
But what we gain in defense, in my opinion, we more than give up in rebounding and offense.
Let's be honest here. Collins could be the worst player in the NBA. If Jerry insists that he start, so be it, but why not give Koufus some minutes as well? He can't be any worse than Collins.
This won't actually have effect, I suppose like this.
